Hey man, you ask me what or who is Straight Six?
Let me tell you.

They are a bunch of crazy old musicians who play real jazz! Count their combined ages and you arrive at the amazing number of 300…

That means 300 years of jazz…
In the meantime they have released a CD on Alessa Records.
Go to the concerts and listen to them LIVE !

Previuos concerts:
Jazzfestival Munster (F), Mannheim (D) "Feuerwache", Neuburg/D. (D) "Birdland", Sibiu (ROM), EU-Festival, St.Pölten (A) Marianne Mendt Festival Eröffnung, Wien (A) "Porgy & Bess", Ludwigsburg (D) „Jazz on a Sunday“, Scheibbser Jazzwoche (A), Jazzfest Wien (A), Kulturtage Eisenerz (A)

Every concert ended with overwhelming enthusiasm shown by the audiences and the many jazz
musicians who were present!

"Alessa Records" recorded the concert at the "Birdland" in Neuburg/D. and the CD is available now.

What´s the idea of this band: Simply get the best musicians of my generation livin in Europe
together to play the best Bebop/Hardbop/Mainstream arrangements
from the era of Art Blakey, Slide Hampton, J.J.Johnson Sextet....

This music we grew up with, which has fascinated us a lifetime and therefore we became
jazzmusicians. Which we also have lived over fifty years and only a few musicians nowadays are
able to pülay it that authentically than us. Because we were lucky to have played together with
these great creators of this music, we learned it from them and so it is our concern to keep this
heritage alive!
No Fusion, no Avantgarde, no Crossover, no political, racist or religious messages, simple "straight
ahead" Jazz - but the finest, so the name "Straight Six" came up almost automatcally.
For the rhythmus section I choose the best I ever played with in Europe: Joerg Reiter piano, Marc
Abrams bass and Bruno Castellucci drums. Adding Dusko Goykovich on trumpet and Joe Gallardo
on trombone, who als brins in a little „Latin-feeling“ with his arrangements.

The Musicians:

Dusko Gojkovich (Trumpet/Flugelhorn)
„is a hell of a trumpet player,“ were the words of Dizzy
Gillespie about the Yugoslav who was born in 1931.
Other than with Dizzy, Dusko Goykovich has played with
Chet Baker, Freddie Hubbard, Art Farmer, Clark Terry,
Woody Shaw, as well as Stan
Getz, Sal Nistico, Kenny Clark, and a great many more
celebrated musicians. Dusko is as well known as a
composer and arranger as he is as a trumpeter. Heinz
von Hermann and Dusko
Goykovich have known each other for many years and
their new cooperation in the „Straight Six“ Sextet will
foster fantastic musical concerts for all involved.
