SWINGTET Straight Six project two new Quartett productions
The new
a new start of the projected
Swing-Band, which realisation had been stopped by the sudden and tragic
death of Bill Grah and Rudolf Hansen. We already had started rehearsing
and writing arrangements with these most swinging musicians from Vienna...
The arrangemenst are still there and there will
be probably more of them added, all written for the "classic"
instrumentation: clarinet, vibraphone, guitar, piano, bass and drums!

A first appearance of that band took place on March 1st and 2nd at "Sandras Salon in der Einfahrt" and on April 21st at the Cafe Carina. A first taste of a possible developement into a "Two Sound Band" was also heard at Oct. 22nd in the "Jazzland" Vienna on the occasion of Heinz´ 70th Birthday!
also performing on April 13th at the "Ratpack Vienna" (1080 Florianig. 56), at April 26th at "Swingtime" beim Sonnbergwirt (2380 Perchtoldsdorf, Sonnbergstr. 22) and April 27th at the "Davis" (1210 Kürschnerg. 9)

He man, you ask me what or who is STRAIGHT SIX ???
I´ll tell you: They are these crazy
old muso´s who play the real Jazz, count their age and you come
to a number of amazing 366....
That means 366 years Jazz....
you ask me, why they do not have an own CD....
man, are you crazy. All 6 together recorded more than 600 CD´s.
Go into a CD shop and you find at least 50 CD´s of each of them...
do you really think they need one CD where they play together....
go
to the concerts and listen to them LIFE!!
After the successful tour in May 2005 the CD of the live recording session
at the "Birdland" in Neuburg/D (GER) will be released soon from
"Alessa Records"

new Quartett projects:
Oct. 28th 2006 ORF (Austrian Radio) had recorded a concert at the Jazzclub Drosendorf on the occasion of Heinz´70th Birthday, which will be soon released on CD (jivemusic.at).
The first part of the concert (and the first CD) is dedicated to the late Lucky Thompson (died July 30th 2005) who always used to be a kind of a secret hero to Heinz.
In the second part original compositions of Heinz were recorded which had not been published on CD yet as well as the beautiful composition of Friedrich Gulda: "Du und I"
